What a busy week! First of all, thank-you to all of those that came to the parents evening this Thursday. It was lovely to share some of the great achievements and progress that your children have attained and developed throughout the year.
Literacy
In literacy this week have committed an entire story to memory using actions and story maps. We then attempted to develop the story further when writing it down; using some of the technical writing skills that we have learnt this year. We added in adjectives and adverbs; we used fronted adverbials; inserted lines of description with similes; expanded the noun phrases using 'with', experimented with the position of conjunctions and used a wide range of punctuation for effect.
Maths
This week we have had a big push on learning our multiplication tables. We have completed missing number problems using the inverse, played games, and tested each other; all to meet our target of knowing our 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times tables by the end of summer term.
Science
Have started a new topic 'Animals Including Humans' and have started to look at the nutrition and how important a healthy meal really is. We we amazed to discover that we actually are what we eat!
DT
Our new DT topic linked in nicely with science this week, as we are designing a hot healthy snack. We are going to make our own version of a Spanish omelette. Of course no chef could research properly without having a taste test first, so we tried some traditional Spanish fare such as; Spanish omelette, sun dried tomatoes, Manchego cheese, chizoro and olives. The Spanish omelette was definitely a winner but some of were not so sure about the sun dried tomatoes and olives! We all decide that we think we found some new favourite foods.
Finally, I will leave you with a few photos from our reading cafe afternoon. The Seahorse class had such a lovely time and we hope you all did too.
