In literacy this week, we discovered an online letter writing campaign. We learnt that a dam is going to be built in Honduras in Central America. We researched how building a dam affects the surrounding environment and found out that the Tawahka tribe that live in the nearby forest will have to move away and change their life completely. We looked at the pros and cons, organised facts into reasons for and against and have decided to write a letter to the Honduran Prime Minister Sr. Porfirio Lobo Sosa to help the tribe's people. We have been practising using persuasive sentence starts and using conjunctions to fully explain the reasons and our point of view.
Maths
In maths, we have been brushing up on our rounding skills and taking it all a step further by rounding to both the nearest 10 and 100 in numbers up to 1000. We have been using our rounding skills to estimate answers to questions and problems and to mark work.
R.E
In RE this week we have been learning all about the Holy Trinity: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. We made trinity flexigons that have colours and pictures that represent each part of the trinity.
Science
In science this week, we had great fun as our year 2 and 3 topics overlaps whilst learning about humans and other animals. We looked at the structure and purpose of the human skeleton learning all of the common names and even some of the scientific ones. We really enjoyed listening and singing along to 'Dem Bones' whilst putting together our skeleton jigsaws.
Well done to Sky and Carley-Mae who performed at the Royal Norfolk Show this week with The Choir of 1000 Voices.
It was lovely to see so many of you brave the rain and come for the school BBQ lunch. We didn't let the rain get us down and enjoyed spending time together in what turned out to be a rather lovely indoor picnic!
