Week beginning 22.05.17

We are all surprised in the Seahorse class as to how quickly the summer term is flying past, as we have now reached a well-earned  break for half term.

Literacy

In literacy this week, it has been all about the grammar, as we have now been introduced to all the different ways that nouns are changed to the plural form. We took this a step further when learning about using the apostrophe for plural possession.

Science

We had a quick preview of our new topic for next term 'Animals Including Humans' when we  started to look closely at teeth. We had a visit from the dental hygienist and looked at food and drink with hidden sugars that could damage our teeth. We ending the session with a practical activity of brushing our teeth effectively. Remember for each tooth; outside, inside, bitey-bit!

Numeracy

In numeracy we have been problem solving, creating spiders webs using the multiplication tables. We discovered that the times tables that are number bond pairs, create the same patterns. We have also been applying the skills we have learnt throughout the the term involving measures and the four operations to solve word problems all about our day out at Amazona Zoo.

We all had a fantastic day at the Amazona Zoo seeing and learning more about all of the animals that can be found in a tropical environment. We had such a fantastic day in the brilliant sunshine and received lots of compliments from the public about our intelligent, insightful and thoughtful questions whilst talking to the zookeepers when watching the feeding displays. Well done Seahorses, you should feel very proud of how you represented our school. Here are a few highlights from the day...

Have a great half-term everyone and don't forget to sign up for a parents evening appointment for Thursday 8th June. Also, the it is the Seahorse class reading cafe on the same day so it will be lovely to see you if you can make it.
